Lincoln warden Ron Dunham promoted to rank of sergeant

Game warden Ron Dunham of Lincoln, a warden for nine years, has been promoted to the rank of sergeant. Dunham will supervise a section of six game warden districts in northern Penobscot, northern Piscataquis and southern Aroostook counties.

Dunham was selected from a pool of 14 applicants for the position. He has worked in the Lincoln area for the past eight years, and is a member of the Maine Warden Service’s K-9, airboat and color guard teams.

During his career Dunham has been honored with a meritorious service award, the K-9 search-and-rescue case of the year award, and last year was honored for his work in a raging white-water rescue.

Dunham will work out of the Greenville Regional Headquarters. As a sergeant he will provide logistical support, guidance, training and on-scene supervision during major incidents.

Dunham grew up in Winterport and graduated from Hampden Academy in 1977.

Wildlife Park set to close

The Maine Wildlife Park will offer a special Veterans Day Special on Nov. 11, its last day of the 2005 season.

Park officials are thanking all Maine military personnel and veterans by offering one free admission to the park on the final day of operation.

The Maine Wildlife Park, which is located in Gray, has more than 25 species of native wildlife on display, wildlife gardens, nature trails and interactive exhibits and displays.

The park is open from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
