Why are there no fireworks shows in northern Maine? Are we not worthy of seeing such a show of patriotism? I really don’t feel like driving moose-covered roads to go to Bangor to watch them. It’s a sad commentary that my kids wont see any fireworks displays on the July 4. Sparklers and morning glories don’t cut it.

We have numerous lakes where fireworks could be shot off. If it’s a matter a money, I would gladly donate as would others. What’s wrong with a little tax money being kicked in?

Tax money is wasted all the time on less worthy things. It’s no wonder people sneak in fireworks from New Hampshire and Canada.
