BANGOR – The Bangor Rotary Club will hold its annual Festival of Lights Parade at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, along Main Street and through downtown Bangor.
This year’s parade theme is “Reaching Out Near and Far” – recognizing the ways in which community members respond to neighbors in need, both far away and here in Maine.
As many as 50 units, including marching bands, festive floats, dancers and other performers, are welcome to celebrate all of the holidays of the season, including Christmas, Hanukkah, Ramadan and Kwanzaa. Parades of the past few years have drawn thousands of spectators lining the streets downtown to enjoy the glittering event.
Those interested in participating in the parade should call Katy Hughes at 561-4700, or e-mail Katy4@adelphia.net. Type “Parade” in the subject line. There is no entry fee. Applications must be in by Friday, Nov. 25.
The annual event is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Bangor, dedicated to serving the needs of the people of the Bangor region and beyond.
