BELFAST – Walsingham Academy will present a benefit program of Christmas music at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 81 Court St.
Music will be performed by Evangeline Noel Glass, accompanied by her husband, Beaumont Glass.
Noel Glass has sung at the Salzburg Festival in Austria and in the opera houses of Cologne, Zurich, Brussels, Naples, Geneva and Rouen. She studied with soprano Lotte Lehmann.
Beaumont Glass, her husband and accompanist, was Lehmann’s assistant for several years at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, Calif. He is the author of a biography of Lotte Lehmann and several books on German song. He has accompanied recitals in the Salzburg Festival, the Holland Festival, and the Festival of Aix-en-Provence. He was head of the musical staff of the Zurich Opera, then director of the opera program at the University of Iowa before he and his wife moved to Camden, where he has been the stage director for several productions of the Maine Grand Opera, including “The Magic Flute,” “Hansel and Gretel,” “LaBoheme,” and “Die Fledermaus.”
