The people of Castine Unitarian Church have given themselves a new name. Starting last month, they became the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Castine. The change followed a unanimous vote of the congregation at its annual meeting. The meeting also saw election of the congregation’s seven-member governing board. With its new name, the church recognizes its ties to the Unitarian Universalist Association and a previous title – the First Congregational Society, Unitarian. The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Castine meets every Sunday in the oldest church structure in eastern Maine.
