Bragdon leads Sumner past WA Raiders

EAST SULLIVAN – Kylie Bragdon scored 11 of her 19 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Sumner Tigers to a 46-44 high school girls basketball victory over the Washington Academy Raiders Thursday night.

Crystal Bridges had 11 points for Sumner.

Mary Mawhinney scored 14 points for Washington Academy of East Machias and Sara Rushforth added 11 points.

Orono took a 25-15 halftime lead, but the Pirates outscored the Riots 14-3 in the third behind eight points from Kellie Martel and six from Tracy Dewey to take a 29-28 lead.

Emily Artesani paced Orono with 14 points and Young added 12.

Martel scored 19 for PCHS and Dewey put in 10.

Finley Allen’s 22 points paced Waterville. Steve Flowers chipped in with nine more.
