Police arrest Brewer man on terrorizing, domestic assault charges

Brewer police went twice to a Spring Street residence late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning, and on the second visit a Brewer man was arrested and charged with several crimes.

According to Sgt. Jason Moffitt and Officers Roger Hershey and Nelson Feero, a disorderly conduct complaint was received earlier in the evening from the home of James Donovan, 33. The officers found no assault or other incidents at the time and issued a warning to Donovan. A second call was received at 12:20 a.m. after Donovan’s wife had fled the residence and phoned police from a neighbor’s house.

The victim reportedly said she was holding the couple’s infant child when Donovan assaulted her. She suffered minor injuries that did not require hospitalization. A witness in the house confirmed the incident. Donovan was arrested and charged with domestic assault, terrorizing, endangering the welfare of a child and obstructing the report of a crime or injury, stemming from the damage he caused to the household phone. He was taken to Penobscot County Jail.
