Thank you for printing the letter of Dec. 31-Jan. 1 from Norinne H. Daly about Medicare Part D – not a benefit to Medicare beneficiaries, but rather to the providers of the so-called benefit.
Recently, I wrote to our members of Congress about my same concerns. Rep. Michaud acknowledged my issues and said he was trying to fix them. Sen. Snowe responded that she was pleased to have worked to have this “indelible enhancement to Medicare” enacted. Sen. Collins has not been heard from.
My personal experience is that the one prescription medicine I take regularly would cost four times more through Medicare D than what I pay directly to the pharmacy.
Surely Congress could see that there is no profiteering by the drug plans and that prices are negotiated to be as low as possible as is done with the VA system or the Canadian health care system.
