CASTINE – Marc McCorrison nailed 7-of-7 free throws and finished with 19 points to lead the Maine Maritime Academy Mariners to a 91-64 men’s basketball over the UMaine-Presque Isle Owls Friday.

B.J. Dunlap chipped in with 17 points for the winners and Adam Haskell added 11 points and nine rebounds. Brandon Hall contributed 10 points and 10 rebounds and Neil Stewart had 10 points.

Brett Miles nailed seven 3-pointers and finished with 21 points to lead UMPI. Jonathan Cooley added 16 points and Benjamin Adams put in 10.

At Chapel Hill, N.C., Camille Little scored 16 points and La’Tangela Atkinson added 14 to lead No. 5 North Carolina to a 102-61 victory over Clemson on Friday in the Atlantic Coast Conference opener for both teams.

North Carolina (14-0, 1-0) went over 100 points for the second straight game and scored its most points since a 106-40 win over East Tennessee State on Nov. 24, 2002.

Erlana Larkins had 13 points and six assists and Ivory Latta finished with 11 points for the Tar Heels.
