Windjammers start quickly, tip Maranacook Black Bears dealt first loss

ROCKPORT – The Camden Hills Windjammers received 19 points and nine rebounds from Cameron Puls and connected on 18 of their 19 free-throw attempts, including an 11-for-11 showing in the fourth quarter, to deal Maranacook of Readfield its first loss, 78-67, in schoolboy basketball action Tuesday.

Christian Pieri had 12 points and five assists; Gordon Fischer contributed 11 points and eight rebounds and Paul Draper combined with Paul Campbell for 17 Windjammer points.

Fischer’s seven first-quarter points helped stake Camden Hills to a lead it would never relinquish.

The Black Bears, who beat Camden Hills 77-70 on Dec. 17, received a game-high 30 points from Ryan Martin and 17 more from Will Bardaglio. Jimmy Palmer chipped in with nine more.
