BROOKLIN – The selectmen will fill the vacant position on the Board of Selectmen during the annual town meeting next month.

The open one-year seat on the board will complete the term of Hendrik Gideonse who resigned his position last weekend. Nomination papers became available Thursday and can be picked up during the town clerk’s normal hours, Tuesday and Thursday between 2 and 5 p.m.

The deadline for filing nomination papers is 3 p.m. Monday, March 6. Town Clerk Jennine Hardy will hold special hours from 1 to 3 p.m. that day to accommodate any last-minute candidates.

The election for municipal officers will take place on March 31 during the annual town meeting. At that time, voters also will choose someone to serve a three-year term on the board. Incumbent Selectman Robert Tapley and challenger Mike Sealander both submitted nomination papers by last Tuesday’s deadline.
