Brown, Welch power Lincoln Acadian, Bangor teams cruise

LINCOLN – Matt Brown and Drew Welch each hit RBI singles in the sixth inning to lead Lincoln to a 4-3 victory over Old Town Thursday in Little League All-Star baseball for ages 11-12.

Josh Murchison hit two singles while Brandon Tolman allowed only one run and one hit in three innings for Lincoln.

For Old Town, which was eliminated, Dana Leland had an RBI double and an RBI single while Jarret Lukas had a run-producing single.

Acadian 18, Machias 6

At Bar Harbor, Nick Swanson led the Acadians with a triple and a single good for three RBIs.

Justin Gilmartin had a two-run double while Nick Hubbard added two singles. Isaiah Gray tripled while Taylor Balarik doubled.

For Machias, Jeff Ramsdell had four RBIs on a single and a triple while Aaron Calor had two singles.

Bangor East 10, Hermon 0

At Bangor, Kyle Gallant pitched a shutout one-hitter, leading Bangor East to victory.

Alex Gallant nailed a three-run home run while Billy Wood pounded out three singles for Bangor. Neal Russell and Sam Martin each had doubles.

For Hermon, Zach Johnson had a single.

Bangor West 14, Hampden 3

At 13th Street field in Bangor, Ian Edwards fired a four-hitter and drove in three runs to lead Bangor West to the win.

Edwards struck out six and walked three. He also doubled, singled, and recorded a sacrifice fly. Gordie Webb hit a two-run homer and Joel Whitney doubled and singled for one RBI. Jake Silver singled twice and drove in a run, Tom Crews hit two singles and Kyle Vanidestine doubled.

Adam Flannery, Jeff Gerry, Patrick Stephens and Dan Herasymchuk each singled for Hampden.

At Bar Harbor, Willie Clark hit two home runs and a single and scored four runs, leading Acadian to the win.

Steve Zirnkilton drove home three runs on a home run and two singles while Scott Farley had one RBI on two singles. Nolan Hall contributed with two singles.

For Machias, Bryce Colbeth and Evan Look each hit two singles for two RBIs.

Sunrise 9, Machias 8

At Machias, Sierra Robinson drove in two runs on three singles, leading Sunrise to the win.

Holly Stanwood hit two singles and an RBI double while Chelsea Curtis had an RBI on two singles. April McLean, Kayla Higgins and Ashly Robinson each had three singles for Sunrise.

Ryanne Barker hit an RBI double and a two-run triple for Machias. Lauren Finn had two singles.

Correction: The wrong players were identified in a Little League baseball all-star story in Friday’s paper. Getting singles for Hampden were Aaron Flannery and Caleb Kirk.
