Michaud secures spot on primary ballot

Incumbent U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud, D-Maine, on Wednesday submitted more than 1,400 signatures to secure a spot on the June primary ballot.

Michaud, a former millworker from East Millinocket, is seeking his third term representing Maine’s 2nd congressional district. He has no primary opponent a week away from the filing deadline.

As for the General Election, no Republican challenger has filed a candidacy with the Federal Election Commission. However, Scott D’Amboise, a Republican from Lisbon Falls, is in the process of collecting signatures for a run against Michaud.

House candidates must submit more than 1,000 signatures by the March 15 deadline to earn a spot on the ballot.
