‘Ghost Hunters’ back with more thrills

I’ve written about them before. They’re SciFi’s alternative reality duo who head up the Atlantic Paranormal Society and are grown-up “Ghostbusters.” And they’re back.

Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson, who first appeared in “Ghost Hunters” last October, are back with new episodes of the show where they shed their plumber clothes and work the night shift to expose paranormal activity.

Skeptics themselves, they investigate haunted buildings all over the country, trying to prove what’s real and what’s not.

According to the latest info from the channel, this season promises to uncover more exciting discoveries, strange behavior, and bizarre occurrences.

I admit, I’m not much of a science fiction buff. After all, I can scare myself just watching “Law and Order” or “CSI” when I’m home alone, so this one isn’t really up my alley.

But the preview included two episodes that kept me glued to the screen – and looking over my shoulder.

If you’re looking for something a little off the normal reality path, tune in to SciFi at 9 p.m. Wednesdays starting March 29 for a paranormal experience.

Also new on the reality front, Simon Cowell is at it again as the producer of a new show for ABC.

Apparently bored with criticizing singers, he has gone into the business of crushing the dreams of entrepreneurs with his new show “American Inventor.”

The show aired Thursday with an open casting call where inventors of all ages presented their ideas.

A panel of experts has been assigned to narrow down the initial entries into the group of finalists who will each be given $50,000 to develop their product, refine it, and take it to the next level.

Much like “Made in the USA,” one reality show that didn’t make it very far, the goal of “American Inventor” is to find the next great invention and have one person’s American dream come true by making their product a household name.

You can tune in at 9 p.m. Thursdays on ABC.

I just hope Simon has another show idea brewing, because I don’t think this one’s going to make it far.

Just one confession before I go. It’s official – I’m addicted to “Nashville Star.” Unfortunately, I’m not sure my prediction is going to be right for Chris Young to take it all unless he ups his stage presence.

He’s still my pick, but the competition’s tough and a crowd like that can be nerve-wracking.

Thanks to all of you who sent me an e-mail noting who your favorite is to be the next country star. It’s always nice to know I’m not the only one watching.

For any of you Mainers who are addicted, if you audition or make it on a reality show, I’d love to hear about it.
