Jackson Lab receives vision research grant

WASHINGTON – The National Eye Institute, under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, has awarded The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor a grant of $37,500 for vision research.

“We are pleased that Maine’s own Jackson Laboratory is once again at the forefront of our nation’s medical research efforts,” said U.S. Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins in a joint statement announcing the award.

The National Eye Institute conducts and supports research that helps prevent and treat eye diseases and other disorders of vision. This research leads to sight-saving treatments, reduces visual impairment and blindness, and improves the quality of life for people of all ages.
