ROCKLAND – The Atlantic Challenge high school sailing team will host its spring meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 11.
The public is invited to attend the meeting, at the Atlantic Challenge’s offices at 643 Main St., to learn how to get involved with the high school sailing team.
The team is open to all high school and junior high students in the midcoast area. No sailing experience is required. The team includes students from Rockland, Georges Valley, Camden Hills, Medomak Valley, and the Watershed Community high schools. The team holds 10 practices and attends regattas in the spring and fall.
In 2005, the team competed against sailors from all over New England in two regattas in Portland. Interested students are invited to join the team at the meeting. There is a boat user fee of $75 for the entire season.
Atlantic Challenge is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to inspiring personal growth through craftsmanship, community, and traditions of the sea. For information about the sailing programs, call 594-1800 or log on to atlanticchallenge.com.
