What kind of vehicle do you drive? Will gas prices affect the choice of your next vehicle? If so, what will you buy?

“I drive a GMC Sierra pickup, but I also own a Saab 95, and that is much better on gas. But if I were to get a new car, I’d probably get one of those Toyota hybrids.”

Catherine Whalen, Machias

“I drive an Oldsmobile. I’d be aware of gas prices when I’m making a decision to get a new car. I’d probably get a Subaru wagon.”

Pat Lawrence, Bangor

“I drive a half-ton truck, so it very much affects the way I drive. I think next I would buy a Volkswagen wagon of some sort. But I wish they’d make a cheap Detroit car that was good on gas.”

Ted Whitham, Bangor

“Well, we have both a Toyota Prius hybrid, and a GMC Yukon. We only use the Yukon in the winter, because our kids play hockey and ski and we need the space. But we love our hybrid, and we drive it more. If they made a hybrid with more space, that would be perfect.”

Joanna Askinis, Bangor

“I drive a Dodge Caravan, and I live in Corinth so I drive back and forth and spend a lot of money on gas. I probably would consider gas prices when I get a new car, but I’d still get another van, because we have kids. But my husband and I also drive motorcycles, and those are definitely economical.”

Lisa Ellis, Corinth

“I drive a Chevy Lumina, and I get about 27 miles to the gallon. Gas prices would affect my choice for my next car. I think I’d like a Subaru Forester or a RAV 4, because they have the space but also better gas mileage.”

Steven Kilburn, Old Town
