NASCAR’s Yeleyto drive in Oxford 250

OXFORD – J.J. Yeley, NASCAR’s Nextel Cup Rookie of the Year contender, has entered the TD Banknorth 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway set for Sunday, July 30.

Yeley, who drives the No. 18 Interstate Batteries Chevrolet for Joe Gibbs Racing, joins Newburgh’s Ricky Craven as entrants for the 33rd annual event.

Whorff Motorsports of Topsham will prepare Yeley’s car. Team owner Bill Whorff Jr. and his son Jeremy furbished cars for NASCAR driver Matt Kenseth in the race the last two years.

Yeley, who sits second in NASCAR Busch Series points, is only one of two drivers to win the United States Auto Club Triple Crown by winning all three division championships in the same season. Gibbs Racing teammate Tony Stewart is the only other driver to accomplish the feat.

Tickets for the race can be purchased at the OPS office on Route 26 or by calling 539-8865.
