Maine Air Guard names outstanding personnel

BANGOR – Tech. Sgt. Scott Baillargeon of Eddington was selected the Outstanding Airman of the Year for the Maine Air National Guard. He represented the noncommissioned officer category. The award was presented on April 2 at Camp Keyes in Augusta.

Also honored were Senior Airman Andrea McCabe in the airman category and Master Sgt. Douglas Hise in the senior noncommissioned officer category.

. Baillargeon of Eddington was selected for outstanding contributions to the 101st Security Forces Squadron in Bangor. He processed more than 200 security clearances for wing personnel and more than 250 award packages for the many deployments Security Forces members supported.

He was recognized for leadership and outstanding performance by the Security Forces commander while deployed as a team leader to MacDill Air Force Base in February and March.

In 2005, he graduated summa cum laude from Boston University with a master’s degree in criminal justice. He helped raise $4,000 for the Maine Air National Guard Family Readiness Program by coordinating the sale of troop support magnets and was involved in the Maine Law Enforcement Torch Run, helping to raise $24,000 for the Special Olympics.

. McCabe of Limington, assigned to the 243rd Engineering Installation Squadron, worked with recruiting staff on the High Tech Patriot Program and participated in 35 school briefings, resulting in several new recruits to the Maine Air National Guard. She served as camp counselor for Bog Brook Camp for Junior ROTC.

. Hise of Camden is a safety craftsman assigned to the 101st Air Refueling Wing in Bangor. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1985 and was assigned to Loring Air Force Base. He separated from active duty in 1995 and enlisted as a traditional Guardsman in the Maine Air National Guard as a career enhancement technician. He re-enlisted in 2002. He is an active member of First Congregational Church in Camden, has been a parental adviser to a youth group, a member of the church bell choir and member of the personnel committee where he serves as chairman. He is a member of the American Legion Post 30 and a master mason with Amity Lodge 6.

. Master Sgt. Treena Nadeau of Stetson was selected First Sergeant of the Year for the Maine Air National Guard. She is assigned as first sergeant for the 101st Security Forces Squadron, 101st Air Refueling Wing, Bangor.

Nadeau’s accomplishments include being selected by the National Science Foundation to deploy to Antarctica to certify and prepare expended JATO rocket motors, and selection as the 2000 Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year for Maine. She is a 2001 graduate of Husson College, summa cum laude, with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

Nadeau has received the Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Outstanding Unit Award, Outstanding Military Volunteer Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award, Professional Military Education Ribbon, Basic Training Ribbon, Commander’s Award, Adjutant General’s Award and the Academic Achievement Award.
