Citrin lifts Bobcats to sweep of Eagles

LEWISTON – Leah Citrin singled to left field in the bottom of the eighth inning to drive in Kyla Decato and give Bates College a 10-9 win over Husson College in the second game of a college softball doubleheader Monday.

Bates captured the first game, 7-1.

In the first game, Kristin Masino allowed just one run on one hit and four walks while striking out eight to earn the win for Bates.

Citrin had two doubles and a single and knocked in two runs. Caitlin Murphy tripled with an RBI and Stacia Saniuk doubled and singled. Katie Franklin had two singles and two runs scored and Lissa Moses added two singles.

Shawna Bell doubled to drive in a run for Husson.

In the second game, Franklin and Moses each homered, doubled, and singled to score three runs and drive in two for Bates. Saniuk hit a home run and two singles and had two RBIs and Citrin had a double and two singles and two RBIs. Kyla Decato singled twice and scored twice.

Sabrina Sevigny hit two home runs and a double to drive in five runs for Husson. Jordon Pruett doubled and singled with three RBIs and Carolyn McAvoy doubled and singled and scored twice.

At Farmington, Breanna Connors scored on an error in the bottom of the 12th to lift the Beavers past the White Mules.

The game was scoreless until Colby and UMF each scored two runs in the eighth inning. Each team added a run in the 10th and 11th.

UMF’s Lauren Overlock hit an RBI single in the eighth, while Megan McCrum added a run-scoring single and Holly Tripp recorded an RBI. Liz Bergeron earned the win.

Kara Fagan went 5-for-5 with a double, four singles and an RBI for Colby. Tory Starr hit two singles and drove in a run.

Saint Joseph’s, Thomas split

At Standish, Joy Ireland allowed just four hits and two walks while striking out 12 to earn the 4-0 shutout win for Thomas College of Waterville over Saint Joseph’s College in the opener. Thomas took the second game 11-2.

In the first game, Brittany Morin had two singles, an RBI, and scored a run for Thomas. Jennifer Higgins singled twice and scored a run and Charlee Hayes doubled.

Megan Farrell doubled for the Monks.

In the second game, Alysn Ludwig hit two singles and knocked in three runs for Saint Joseph’s. Colby McKenney doubled and singled and added two RBIs and two runs scored. Kim Bechard had a triple and two singles and scored two runs as Gabrielle Burrola doubled with two RBIs. Jamie Morrison had two singles and an RBI.

Brittany Oxley had a single and an RBI for the Terriers.

At Standish, Chris Doughty slammed a two-run homer to lead Saint Joseph’s past Rivier College.

Luke Enman notched a two-run single while Mark Clapp doubled and scored two runs. Ben Muniz tripled, singled twice and knocked in three runs.

Kevin Moyer had two singles and three RBIs for Rivier.
