Husson, Thomas split pair

BANGOR – Adam Sheehan socked an RBI double to cap a four-run sixth inning as the Husson College baseball team took the second game of a doubleheader from Thomas College of Waterville 10-6.

The Terriers captured the first game 6-2.

In the first game, Taylor Helberg tossed a five-hit, two-run complete game, striking out four and walking only two for Thomas.

Jordan Stebbins tripled, singled and drove in three runs for the Terriers.

Justin Spencer doubled, singled and knocked in a run for the Eagles.

In the second game, Jason Harvey hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning to help Husson salvage a split.

Harvey added two singles and Spencer doubled, singled twice and drove in a run.

Mike Chamard paced Thomas with a double, single and three RBIs. Tim Mercier singled twice and knocked in a pair.

At Waterville, Tyler Hales had double, single and three runs scored, and Colin Riggs had a two-run single to lead Colby over the University of Maine-armington.

Corey Provencher had an RBI triple and a single for the Beavers, and Aaron Wolfe added two singles, two walks and an RBI.

At Standish, Ryan Borque hit a double and two singles and drove in a run, and Nick Vardaro hit a solo home run to lead Southern Maine past St. Joseph’s in 12 innings.

Eddie Skeffington had three singles and Chris Burlson added a double for the Huskies.

Mark Clapp drove in two runs on a homer and a single, and Wade Oliver chipped in a double and two singles for St. Joe’s. Brian Schools added a double, single and an RBI.

Southern Maine splits

At Gorham, Katie Martell had a double, two singles and drove in three runs to lead the Huskies to a 7-3 win over Bridgewater State in the second game of a doubleheader.

Bridgewater won the opener 2-1.

In the second game, Katie Mainville added an RBI single for Southern Maine and Bree Loon pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts.

In the first game, Mainville struck out 10 but took the loss as the Huskies could only muster one run off of Bears’ starter Katie Tauber.

Katie Holbrook hit an RBI double for the winners and Evon Hudspeth’s RBI single led Southern Maine.
