ELLSWORTH – Senior righthander Matt Homich pitched a one-hitter in the opener and freshman righty Pat Kelley threw a five-hitter in the second game as undefeated Ellsworth swept Foxcroft Academy 5-3 and 3-1 in a Penobscot Valley Conference Class B baseball doubleheader Saturday.
In the first game, Homich struck out 10, walked just one, and hit a two-run double to highlight Ellsworth’s four-run rally in the bottom of the fourth.
Homich finished with two doubles, while Nick Hunnewell doubled twice with two RBIs and Owen Harding and Greg Berry each singled twice.
Josh Pelletier had Foxcroft’s lone hit, a single in the fifth inning.
In the second game, Ellsworth left the bases loaded four times, but capitalized on 14 walks to earn the win.
Kelley struck out six batters and walked three on the mound for the Eagles.
Logan Forrest singled home Justin Freeman in the first inning to give Foxcroft a 1-0 lead.
Brad Allen’s sacrifice fly in the second inning tied the game, and Louden Jellison singled home Allen in the fourth with the go-ahead run.
Cory Smith doubled in the sixth and scored on a wild pitch.
Pelletier added a double for Foxcroft.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Matt Nickerson scored in the bottom of the eighth inning on a Tom Cameron single to give Searsport the 4-3 win over Central in the first game. Searsport took the second game 14-1.
In the first game, Nate Adams allowed just one earned run on three hits and three walks while striking out 10 for Searsport. Cameron had three singles and a double with two RBIs and Caleb Ashey added two doubles and a single and two RBIs.
Tom Collins hit an RBI single for Central of Corinth and Brenden Wilson doubled.
In the second game, Matt Nickerson allowed one run on four hits and two walks while fanning eight for the Vikings.
Sean Johnson doubled twice to knock in three runs for Searsport and Cameron doubled and singled with three RBIs. Ashey had two singles and two RBIs and Nickerson singled twice.
Tyler Speed hit an RBI single in the first inning for the Red Devils.

At Bucksport, Joe Soper hit a two-run homer in the third inning and a double to help push Bucksport to victory.
Eddie Robbins had a double and two singles and scored three runs for Bucksport. Chris Maguire had two singles and two RBIs and Cam Wadleigh hit a two-run single.
Nick Hubbard had a double and two singles and scored twice for John Bapst of Bangor and Kyle Gallant hit a two-run single.

Hermon, Presque Isle split
At Hermon, Travis Estes hit a game-ending grand slam in the fifth inning to lead Hermon past Presque Isle 13-0 in the first game. The Wildcats came back to win the second game 8-4.
In the first game, Derek Helms hit two RBI doubles for Hermon and Brady Hurd tripled and doubled. Brian Perry hit two singles and a double.
Logan York, Matt McGlinn, Bennett Cassidy, Luke Ireland and Chris Beaulieu singled for Presque Isle.
In the second game, York singled twice and drove in a run for Presque Isle and McGlinn doubled.
Estes and Perry hit back-to-back solo home runs in the second inning for Hermon.

At Stacyville, Cameron Cunningham allowed two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out 10 to lead Katahdin past Bangor Christian 5-2 in the first game. The Cougars won the second game 15-4.
In the first game, James Zabierk hit a two-run single for Katahdin. Patrick Willett hit an RBI double and Cunningham singled twice.
Phil Dougherty hit a two-run home run for Bangor Christian.
In the second game, Willett had three singles and two RBIs for the Cougars and Owen McCarthy added three singles and an RBI. Casey Savage had two singles and an RBI and Keith Anderson singled with three RBIs.
Jared Theriault paced Bangor Christian with two singles and two RBIs. Phil Dougherty hit an RBI double and Ignacio Bustos added an RBI single.

Nikki Eastman led Houlton with two doubles and two singles, while Lainey Herring tripled, doubled and singled with two RBIs.

At Ellsworth, Tasha Manning hit a solo home run and a grand slam and scored four times to lead Ellsworth past Foxcroft Academy 20-0 in the second game. The Ponies won the first game 4-3.
In the first game, Sami Hall singled and scored on an infield error in the seventh inning to give Foxcroft the win. Lindsay Chase and Kayla Clukey each singled and scored a run.
Emily Miller and Maggie Seavey each hit two singles and scored a run for Ellsworth.
In the second game, Catie Cravens allowed just one hit and walked none while striking out nine to earn the shutout win.
Maggie Seavey hit a two-run home run, the first of back-to-back homers with Manning. Emily Miller singled three times and scored four runs.
Lindsay Chase hit an infield single in the third inning for the Ponies.

Bangor Chr. sweeps Katahdin
At Stacyville, Jillian French pitched a one-hit shutout with two walks while recording all 15 outs via strikeout to lead Bangor Christian to a 12-0 win over Katahdin in the first game. The Patriots won the second game 21-10.
In the first game, Christian Pelletier tripled and singled to knock in four runs for Bangor Christian. Karla Dearborn had two singles and an RBI and Jen Hutchins added two singles.
Chelsie Bates broke up the no-hitter in the third inning with a single for Katahdin.
In the second game, Hutchins hit a double and two singles for the Patriots. Dearborn and Pelletier each had three singles. Amber Leathers doubled and Kelly Miller hit two singles.
French had 11 strikeouts for 26 total in 12 innings pitched on the day.
Lindsay Albert hit a single and a two-run home run for the Cougars. Jasmine Pelletier, Kayla Stevens and Brooke Smallwood each had two singles.
