Moore lifts Nokomis over Bangor

NEWPORT – Sammy Moore hit an RBI triple in the sixth inning to break a 3-3 tie and lift the Nokomis Warriors to a 4-3 high school softball victory over the Bangor Rams Monday.

Patrice Cianchette tied it in the sixth inning with an RBI single for the Warriors. Autumn Silk and Erin Knight each had two singles and Devon Carroll doubled.

Katie MacDonald hit an RBI single in the sixth and scored a run for Bangor and Alex Fahey singled and scored.

At Bucksport, junior Terren Hall pitched a perfect game, striking out 13, as the Golden Bucks remained undefeated.

Hall allowed only a comebacker to the pitcher’s circle and a groundout to shortstop. She helped her own cause with three singles.

Keely Sullivan singled twice and Katie Hurd doubled for Bucksport.

At Lincoln, Lauren Smith hit an RBI double to tie it in the seventh inning and later scored on a passed ball to give Mount Desert Island of Bar Harbor the win.

Bree Hanscom had two singles and two RBIs for Mattanawcook Academy and Casey McCloskey added two singles.

Kristie Dawson struck out eight for Penobscot Valley of Howland. Kelsey Lavertu and Morgan Cyr both had an RBI single.

At Dexter, Jen Hutchins had a single, a triple and scored the winning run in the eighth inning to lead Bangor Christian by Dexter.

Kristin Pelletier added two singles for the Patriots.

Michelle Chapman had a two RBI double while Tania Morales added two singles for Dexter.

At Hinckley, Beth Bartley slammed two home runs, slapped four singles and drove in four runs to lead Greenville to the win.

Leslie Harris notched two triples, four singles and three RBIs while Darla Larsen singled three times, doubled and plated three runs for the Lakers.

Gypsy Caron hit a two-run single and Sarah Attaway had two singles and an RBI for Averill.

At Dyer Brook, Jordan Sholler cranked a grand slam and Audrey Charette added a two-run homer to lead Southern Aroostook by the Limestone Community School/Maine School of Science and Mathematics.

Chelsea Collier earned the win for the Warriors as she allowed four hits while striking out five and walking two.

Leeann Kelly recorded an RBI single for the Eagles.

At Fort Fairfield, Caitlyn Esancy broke for home on a Ruthie Arato fielder’s choice in the eighth inning and beat the tag to give Fort Fairfield the win.

Esancy had a double and two singles and knocked in two runs for the Tigers. Maryl Shaw hit a two-run single in the seventh inning to force extra innings and Kerry Cunningham singled twice.

Sarah Nadeau hit a two-run double for Madawaska and Andrea Cyr added an RBI single.

T.J. St. Louis collected two singles, a double and drove in three runs for the Lakers. Joe Jardine and Jake Gallant had two singles and two RBIs apiece.

Brian Rawls doubled while Dana Mayo and Wes Rutherford each singled for Averill.

At Dexter, A.J. McGowan’s two-run double in the bottom of the fifth forced the ten-run rule and lifted the Tigers past the Patriots.

Ryan Martin laced three singles and drove in five runs for Dexter while Aaron Woodman slapped a pair of singles and drove in a run.

Phil Dougherty and Jared Theriault had an RBI single apiece for Bangor Christian.

At Corinth, Travis Martin had two singles, a double and drove in two runs to help Stearns earn the win over Central.

Tyler Emerson had a single, a triple and four RBIs while Jordan Burleigh had a single, a triple and two RBIs. Justin Pelkey added a single and a double for the Minutemen.

Scott Kelley had four singles and an RBI while Danny Kane had a double and three RBIs. Brenden Wilson added a single and a double for Central.

At Lincoln, Nick Swanson fired a six-hit shutout and helped his own cause with a home run and two singles as the Trojans earned their first victory of the season.

Swanson struck out eight, walked one and hit a batter. He smacked a solo homer in the first, giving Mount Desert Island the only run it would need. Jake Willis singled twice and knocked in the other run.

Aaron Flannery rapped two doubles for Mattanawcook Academy behind Drew Welch, who scattered seven hits.

At Pittsfield, Brenten Gardiner delivered an RBI triple in the top of the eighth to lift the Belfast Lions to victory.

Dale Dutton pitched a complete-game four-hitter with five strikeouts and only one walk for Belfast.

Hunter Nichols hit two singles and Chris Cook added another for the Huskies.
