Sholler lifts Warriors to win

DYER BROOK – Jordan Sholler hit a game-ending two-run double in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Southern Aroostook Warriors a 4-3 high school softball victory over the Ashland Hornets Tuesday.

Sholler had two doubles and two RBIs for the Warriors and Amanda Charette tripled. Chelsea Collier had eight strikeouts.

Whitney Flint and Ashley Nemer each singled twice for Ashland. Whitney Flint recorded 14 strikeouts.

At Fort Fairfield, Ruthie Arato hit a double and two singles to drive in three runs and lead Fort Fairfield past Hodgdon.

Meryl Shaw and Kerri Cunningham each had two singles and two RBIs for the Tigers.

Sara Brewer hit a double and a solo home run to knock in two runs for Hodgdon.

At Mars Hill, Kellie Peers drove in four runs with three singles and Julie Peers contributed a triple and three singles to power Limestone Community School/Maine School of Science and Mathematics past Central Aroostook.

Meagan Pelletier doubled and singled for the winners and Melanie Allen hit a solo homer. Julie Peers pitched five innings of five-hit, three-run ball for the win, striking out three and not walking anybody.

Kayla Day had two singles for Central Aroostook. Samantha Brewer had a run-scoring triple and Sarah Long had an RBI double.

At Washburn, Amber Palmer hit two singles, a double and knocked in a run as Washburn held on for the win.

Kristen Goupille notched a couple of singles and drove a run home for the Beavers.

Lacey Farrar and Emma Boutlier had a single apiece for the Eagles.

At Hampden, Sarah Richardson scored with two-outs in the seventh inning on an infield error to lead Erskine Academy of South China past Hampden Academy.

Mariah Gleaton singled in the fifth inning for the Eagles.

Mikki Libbey singled twice and scored a run for Hampden and Hannah Growe hit two singles. Nellie Wood doubled and Lacey Littlefield struck out 10.

At Dyer Brook, Kevin Baker hit an RBI single in the seventh inning to give Ashland the win.

Henry Milligan added an insurance run in the seventh on an RBI single for the Hornets.

Zack Stubbs hit three singles for Southern Aroostook and Clay Lawlor added a two-run single.

At Washburn, Steve Pesut hit two singles and scored four runs to lead Washburn past Greater Houlton Christian Academy.

Ben Goupille and Dusty Glasscock both doubled and singled for the Beavers. Pesut had 10 strikeouts.

Drew Farrar singled and homered to drive in three runs for the Eagles. Erik Sjoberg hit a two-run double.

At Bordick Park in Hampden, Erskine Academy of South China capitalized on 15 walks to earn the victory.

Dan Cowing paced the Eagles with three singles and three RBIs, while winning pitcher Brett Bagdoyan singled twice.

Joel Neill led Hampden – which jumped out to a 5-0 first-inning lead – with a double and two singles, while Justin Kelsey added a double.
