Richards, Vikes nip Shiretowners

HOULTON – Ali Richards hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to lift the Caribou Vikings to a 10-9 high school softball victory over the Houlton Shiretowners Wednesday.

Kristy Zhylot had two singles and a pair of RBIs for Caribou. Makayla Gahagan had two singles and an RBI while Billie Martin doubled and hit two singles.

Shay Prosser hit three singles and drove in two runs for Houlton.

Fort Fairfield 12, CAHS 4

At Fort Fairfield, Sheena Esancy single twice, driving in three runs, and Caitlin Esancy added two singles to lead Fort Fairfield past Central Aroostook of Mars Hill.

Kaitlyn McLaughlin had a single and two RBI for the winners.

Kayla Day and Meagan Pryor hit a single apiece for the Panthers.

At Limestone, Megan Korhonen pitched seven innings, striking out nine, and hit four singles with four RBI to lead Greater Houlton Christian Academy past Limestone Community School/Maine School of Science and Math.

Katie Thompson added two singles for the winners.

Julie Peers cranked a two-run homerun and also hit a single for the Eagles. Emily O’Neal struck out 12.

Madawaska 23, Wisdom 11

At Madawaska, Sarah Nadeau notched three singles, a double and drove in three runs, and Andrea K. Cyr added three singles and two RBI as Madawaska cruised past Wisdom for its first win of the spring.

Sarah Schlicher chipped in with two singles for the winners.

Kayla Daigle hit a single and a double for the Pioneers of St. Agatha. Nicole St. Pierre, Amanda Haskins, Sadie Dubois and Heather Albert added two singles apiece.

At Presque Isle, Heather Richards smacked two singles and a double and drove in two runs to lead Presque Isle to the win.

Angela Norsworthy had a single and double, and struck out 12 Warriors. Katie Delong added two singles for the Wildcats.

Marissa Albert singled for Fort Kent.

At Madawaska, Nathan Beaulieu smacked a double, single and drove in three runs, and Mark Sirois added a double with three RBI to lead Madawaska over Wisdom.

Matt Beaulieu hit three singles and Billy Roy added a triple for the Owls.

Justin Michaud had a single and an RBI triple, and Eric Bernier added two singles and an RBI for the Pioneers.
