MCI fashion show to support memorial fund

Members of the sophomore class at Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield are establishing the Josh Sawyer Memorial Scholarship Fund to honor their late classmate, and other MCI students are doing what they can to help the sophomores with this endeavor.

For example, Ellen Wagner has organized a special senior project, and she hopes many people will attend and support its purpose.

Wagner is hosting a fashion show from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 18, in Parks Gymnasium on the MCI campus in Pittsfield.

She invites you to view the latest in beachwear, casual wear and eveningwear, with clothes and accessories provided by Filenes of Bangor.

Admission is just $2, and all proceeds benefit the establishment of the fund in memory of the popular, athletic, 15-year-old who was the victim of a shooting incident March 19 in Norridgewock.

The MCI senior wrote that she is donating all proceeds from this project to help establish the fund in memory of her former schoolmate who “participated in three sports a year, and loved going to camps.”

MCI guidance counselor and sophomore class advisor Jason Judd explained that the “fund will be sponsoring kids going to athletic summer programs who cannot afford it.”

If you cannot attend the fashion show, but would like to contribute to this scholarship, donations can be sent to the Josh Sawyer Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of Maine Central Institute, 125 So. Main St., Pittsfield 04967.
