John R. Massaua, a former small-business owner and founding officer of Staples, has been named the state director of Maine Small Business Development Centers. Massaua holds a master’s in business administration from Fordham University, is a Price-Babson fellow and an adjunct business faculty member at the University of Southern Maine. He most recently was a Maine SBDC counselor with Coastal Enterprises Inc. in Fairfield.

Jeff Davenport of Fort Fairfield has been promoted to chief executive officer of The County Federal Credit Union, which serves 23 communities in central Aroostook County. Davenport has been with the credit union since 1996 and holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Maine, a master’s degree in business from Husson College and has completed several courses with the American Institute of Banking.

Joyce Sarnacki, retail services manager of the Bangor Savings Bank corporate office, recently was promoted to senior vice president. Sarnacki joined the bank in the summer of 1997 as vice president and marketing director. She is a graduate of numerous banking and financial programs, including the New England School of Banking at Williams College and Leadership Maine, a program offered through the Maine Development Foundation.

Todd Bachelder, regional commercial lending manager of the Portland office of Bangor Savings Bank, recently was promoted to senior vice president. Bachelder joined the bank in early 2000 with 18 years of banking experience. He holds a degree in economics from Dartmouth College and a master’s in business administration from the Amos Tuck School of Business.
