PORTLAND – Red Sox outfielder Gabe Kapler has been assigned to the Portland Sea Dogs and will be active for the team’s doubleheader Thursday against the Altoona Curve at Hadlock Field.

Kapler, who will wear No. 44, has been sidelined with a ruptured left Achilles’ tendon since Sept. 14.

The Sea Dogs are in first place in the Eastern League’s Northern Division with a 33-22 record.
