PORTSMOUTH, N.H. – The Coast Guard is investigating a boating accident that claimed the life of a Maine man. Edgar McLeod III of Norway was killed Friday night in an accident on The Big Dreamer off the coast of Portsmouth, N.H.

He was hauling in a catch on the 60-foot stern trawler when he became caught in a winch, the coast guard said.

The accident happened shortly before 6 p.m. The boat was registered in Portland.
