BANGOR – Bangor’s Scott Hackett smacked a two-run triple in a four-run first inning and the Comrades went on to beat the Penquis Navigators 9-6 in their American Legion baseball opener at Mansfield Stadium Tuesday night.
Shane Walton chipped in with two singles and an RBI for Bangor and winning pitcher Alex Gallant aided his own cause with two singles.
Danny Beatham doubled and drove in two runs for Penquis and Nick Lancisi added a single and two RBIs.
The game was delayed 30 minutes by rain.

At Ellsworth, Lucas Marks hit a double, scored a run, and drove in a run to lead Trenton past Hampden.
Sam Merrill allowed just one run on three hits and two walks while striking out two for Trenton. Blake Wessell singled and scored a run, and Morgan Lawson singled.
Ian Lee hit two singles for Hampden, and Joel Neill doubled and scored.
