Lukas powers Orono Hall no-hits Dover-Foxcroft

HAMPDEN – Jarrett Lukas hit a solo home run and a double and scored five runs to lead Orono past Hampden 17-7 in an American Legion baseball game on Sunday.

Mike Tardiff had a double and two singles with five RBIs for Orono. Dusty Thomas had a double and two singles with four runs scored and George Keefe singled with two RBIs.

Shawn Smith doubled and singled with an RBI for Hampden and Chris Morris singled with two RBIs.

Brewer sweeps Orono

At Brewer Saturday, Joe Robicheau hit three singles to knock in two runs to push Brewer past Orono 10-5 in the second game. Brewer also won the first game 3-1.

In the first game, Andy Otis scored twice for Brewer as Ben Davis and Brad Brown each doubled.

Cory Estes hit an RBI double for Orono as Jarrett Lukas and Dana Leland doubled.

In the first game, Prentiss Swett doubled and singled for Brewer. Rick Adams and Chris Maguire both had two singles and Kevin McAvoy doubled.

Lukas had two singles and a home run to drive in three runs for Orono. Dusty Thomas doubled and singled and Travis Dunton doubled.

At Ellsworth on Saturday, Andy Pooler scattered three hits while striking out seven in seven innings of work as the Acadians topped the Suns.

Collin Henry paced Trenton with two doubles and two RBIs. Lance Gale added two singles to go with two RBIs, while Phineas Peake doubled and singled and Cory Smith singled twice.

Scott Geel led Calais with a double and a single.

At Dover-Foxcroft on Sunday, Noah Porter hit a two-run double and a single to lead Waldo past Penquis.

Waldo’s Brandon Gardner drove in three runs on two singles and Ryan Shute added a triple, a single and an RBI.

Josh Pelletier powered Penquis with a three-run homer in addition to three more RBIs on three singles and a double. Joey Kane chipped in with an RBI double and Tim McCarthy had an RBI single and a double.

Waldo sweeps Hampden

At Husson College in Bangor Saturday, Miles Davee tripled in the ninth and Mike Cummons drove him home with a single to right field to give Waldo the 9-8 win over Hampden in the second game. Waldo also took the first game 6-1.

In the first game, Noah Burke hit three singles and drove in two runs for Waldo. Ryan Shute had two singles with an RBI and Mike Cummons singled twice.

Joe Neill hit two singles for Hampden and Chris Morris scored a run.

In the second game, Davee hit two triples and three singles to knock in two runs for Waldo. John Wentworth hit an RBI double and Burke added an RBI single.

Ian Lee had a double and two singles with two RBIs for Hampden and Neill added two doubles and a single with a run batted in.

Aerus Electrolux sweeps

At Hermon, Phil Cayford doubled in the sixth inning and scored the winning run when Shawn Dennis singled up the middle to lead Aerus Electrolux of Hermon to the 2-1 win over MovingMe.com of Hermon in the second game. Aerus Electrolux took the first game 5-3.

In the first game, Cayford had three singles and three RBIs for Aerus Electrolux.

Eric Schwab hit three singles and knock in a run for MovingMe.com. Cole McElwain had two singles and an RBI and Chris Blanchette singled twice.

In the second game, Cayford hit two doubles and scored both runs. Dennis hit three singles and Joe Merrill added an RBI single.

James Strout singled three times for MovingMe.com and Ryan Logan hit an RBI single.

Montville earns sweep

At Searsport, Nate Hall pitched a no-hitter with 18 strikeouts and one walk as Montville shut down Dover-Foxcroft 9-0 in the opening game of a doubleheader. Hall earned a save in the second game, a 5-4 Montville win.

In the first game, Hall helped himself with two singles, a double and two RBIs. Greg Thayer hit a solo home run and Bob Withee added a two-run double for Montville while Gerald Hews hit a double and a single.

In the second game, Hall earned a save when he struck out the final two batters in the top of the seventh with a runner on first.

George Tripp hit two doubles, including one in the third that eventually allowed him to score on a Hews RBI groundout for the winning run. Hews added an RBI single and Devin Potvin hit a two-run single.

Josh Flynn led Dover-Foxcroft with three singles. Rich Flynn had an RBI single.

USC sweeps Searsport

At Husson College in Bangor, Josh Young allowed just three hits and no walks while striking out 11 to earn the 8-0 shutout win for Union Street Cleaners of Bangor over Searsport in the first game. Union Street Cleaners also won the second -game 11-5.

In the first game, Brad Wheaton hit a double and singles and scored a run for USC and Young added two singles.

Kenton Spaulding singled twice for Searsport.

In the second game, Willy Baird hit two singles and drove in a run for Union Street Cleaners. Wheaton walked four times and scored two runs and Paul Klink drove in a run.

Tyler Wilson singled and scored a run for Searsport and Nick Arthurs had an RBI.
