Quebec driver edges Khiel for PASS victory

OXFORD – Patrick Laperle of St. Denis, Quebec, took the lead from Denmark’s Travis Khiel on lap 134 and held on to edge Khiel by .548 of a second in the Roy’s All-Steak Hamburgers/R & D Land Sales 150 at Oxford Plains Speedway Saturday night.

Wiscasset’s Scott Chubbuck was third in the Pro All-Stars Series North Super Late Models race.

Rounding out the top 10 were, in order, Scott Mulkern of Falmouth, Rich Martin of Taunton, Mass., Hallowell’s Johnny Clark, Turner’s Mike Rowe, Cushing’s Chuck Lachance, Waterboro’s Curtis Gerry and Oxford’s Chris Kennison.

Paul White of Corinna was 16th, Fort Fairfield’s Kirk Thibeau crossed the finish line 21st, Bangor’s Gary Smith was 23rd, Morrill’s Travis Benjamin was 25th and Lee native Erik Worster was 30th in the 34-car field.

Farmington’s Cassius Clark, who won the tour’s first three races, finished 29th.

Unity Raceway

Tim Robinson of Clinton benefited from a late-race restart to pass Vassalboro’s Ed Drake on the faster outside groove and win the 35-lap Pro-Fours race Saturday night.

Dick McPhail of Fairfield raced past Steve Rackliff of Starks for third place. Rackliff was fourth and Mike O’Connor of Barrington, N.H., captured fifth place.

Wiscasset Raceway

Bryan Robbins of Liberty edged West Bath’s Nick Reno and took home a $2,000 paycheck for winning the rescheduled LMS 100 Late Model Sportsman race on Saturday. Chris Thorne of Sidney finished third, Jerry Reynolds of Liberty was fourth and West Gardiner’s Duane Love finished fifth.

Jon Brill of Sebago held off Billy Childs Jr. of Leeds to win the Late Model Stock 40-lap feature on Saturday. Glen Luce of Turner finished third, Canton’s Travis Adams was fourth, and Dale Verrill of South Paris rounded out the top five.

At Hermon, points leader Ryan Deane of Winterport won the Sportsman Pro Stock feature on Saturday night by holding off Town Hill’s John Phippen. Scott Modery of Hermon finished third, Duane Seekins of Stockton Springs was fourth, and Orrington’s Kris Huff finished fifth.

Kansas Speedway

At Kansas City, Kan., Scarborough’s Ryan Moore posted his best qualifying effort of the season for Key Motorsports in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series’ O’Reilly Auto Parts 250 on Saturday (10th) at Kansas Speedway but an early-race wreck involving Kraig Kinser resulted in a 34th-place finish.

Terry Cook collected his first win in nearly four years.
