Holbrook, Brewer post wins Rodgerson, Higgins lead Waldo County by Lincoln County

BANGOR – Holbrook eliminated Old Town 14-3 and Brewer ousted Lincoln 8-5 in the District 3 Junior League All-Star baseball tourney at Mansfield Stadium Tuesday.

In the first game, Roy Bessette pitched a complete game, allowing two earned runs with 11 strikeouts to lead Holbrook by Old Town.

Tyler Chamberlain had a two-run triple and a single while Brandon Carney hit a double and a single with two RBIs for the winners.

Zach Mansell had an RBI double while Cody Smart added a double for Old Town.

In the second game,, Brewer scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to break a 5-5 tie and take the lead for good.

Jamie Williamson hit a two-run inside-the-park home run while Eric White added a triple for Brewer.

Lance Bernier hit a triple and two singles with three RBIs while Tyler Tash had a triple and a single for Lincoln.

At Frankfort, Nick Rodgerson hit a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning to lead Waldo County past Lincoln County.

Adam Higgins pitched four innings allowing one hit with 10 strikeouts for the winners.

Kolt Wallace and Brandon Bonney each hit a single for Lincoln.

Hampden 14, Lincoln 4

At Old Town, Sam Jordan hit two singles and drove in two runs as Hampden defeated Lincoln.

Matt Martin hit a double and drove in a run while Matt Closson and Ryan Richards each had an RBI single for Hampden.

Aaron Osbourne and Aaron Goodine each had a single with an RBI while James Washington added a triple for Lincoln.

At Brewer, Shawn Williams singled and scored two runs to lead Brewer by Old Town.

Tyler Alexander allowed only one hit and had 11 strikeouts for Old Town. Casey Estes singled twice while Lucas Baillargeon had an RBI double.

Bangor West 12, Hermon 4

At the 13th Street Complex in Bangor, Bangor West scored five runs in the first inning and added four more in the second highlighted by an RBI double by Wyatt Frost and an RBI triple by Bobby Winchell en route to its third win.

Joshia Hartley chipped in with two singles and an RBI to back winning pitcher Jessie Wood, who struck out 10 and walked two in five innings. Frost also singled.

Aaron Jellison had and RBI double for Hermon while Tyler Fournier and Matt Blackmer each singled.

Hampden 9, Orono-Veazie 6

At Hampden, John Pond’s two-run single and Fred Knight’s RBI single highlighted a five-run second inning that enabled Hampden to beat Orono-Veazie in an elimination game.

Righty Gene Burditt threw a five-hitter, striking out nine and walking four.

Dakota Duplissie had two doubles and two RBIs for the winners and Knight had a pair of singles.

Tyler Eddy hit a two-run homer and also singled for Orono-Veazie and Cam Dwyer had a two-run double.
