Police look for clues in hit-and-run case

ST. GEORGE – The search continued Wednesday for a hit-and-run driver who struck a flagger Tuesday at a construction site on Marshall Point Road, police said.

The flagger, Heather Cudworth, 28, of Brunswick, is believed to have suffered a broken leg in the incident.

Maine State Police Lt. Gerard Madden said Wednesday said he was surprised police had not yet tracked down the truck or driver given the publicity the incident received.

Police are looking for a red Chevrolet S-10 pickup with Massachusetts plates that struck the flagger, then fled after the driver turned around and paused to look at the injured woman. The driver was described as being about 40 with dark brown hair and wearing a green T-shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at (800) 452-4664. The vehicle may have damage to its passenger side front area.
