Bangor West to play Brewer for District 3 title today

BANGOR – Carl Farnham doubled and eventually scored on a wild pitch with two outs in the bottom of the sixth to help Bangor West edge Bangor East 5-4 in District 3 All-Star baseball action Monday at the 13th Street Complex.

Bangor West will face Brewer for the District 3 title today. Brewer is undefeated in the double-elimination tourney and Bangor has lost once – to Brewer – and thus has to beat Brewer twice to claim the title.

Joshia Hartley hit a three-run homer for Bangor West in the first inning and Jessie Wood hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game in the fifth after Bangor East rallied to take the lead in the fourth inning.

Luke Hetterman led Bangor East with three singles. Adam King and Mallory McDonald each had an RBI single.

Acadian 11, Coastal 3

At Blue Hill, Taylor Stewart doubled and singled to knock in three runs as the Acadians rolled.

Devon Young had a pair of singles and a double with three RBIs and Nolan Hall two singles and an RBI for the winners.

John Lymburner had two singles and an RBI for Coastal and Bob Sawyer doubled.

At Bucksport, Sam Stewart pitched a three-hit shutout with three strikeouts and aided his cause with an RBI single to cap a four-run fourth inning as the Acadians prevailed.

Jason Delaney stroked a three-run double for the winners.

Steven Klenowski doubled while Marshall Harriman and Carl Wentworth each singled for Bucksport.

At Ellsworth, Ross Bowden had an RBI triple and RBI single as Coastal beat Ellsworth.

Rob Brown hit an RBI triple while Collin Ciomei and Nick Saunders each added two singles for the winners.

Travis Dressel had two singles and an RBI for Ellsworth.

At Old Town, Justin Courtney hit a three-run home run in the top of the second inning as Bangor East defeated Brewer.

Brendan Moore hit two singles, a double and drove in two runs while Nick Ashey had two doubles and two RBIs. Andrew Hillier and Nick Leach each hit three singles and drove in a run for Bangor East.

Sam Ness had a single and a double with two RBIs while Tony Bissell and James Gilmore each had a single and an RBI for Brewer.

At Machias, Machias scored 11 runs in the top of the fourth inning as it went on to defeat Calais.

Fred MacLean hit a single, a triple and drove in five runs while Colin Pineo had a two-run single. Tyler Varney added two singles for Machias.

P.J. Descoteaux singled twice and drove in a run while Tyler Morrison added a double for Calais.

At Calais, Bridget Hunnewell hit two singles, a triple and a home run with four RBIs to help lead Calais by Machias.

Paige Gillespie had a single, a triple and a home run with four RBIs while Kate Cundiff hit three singles with three RBIs for Calais.

Taylor Mosley singled twice while Emily Day, Chelsea Holmes and Kassiday Seeley each added a single for Machias.
