$1.26 million to Bangor in grant from HUD

WASHINGTON – The city of Bangor will receive a $1,264,000 in funding from the Housing and Urban Development Office of Community Planning and Development, according to members of Maine’s congressional delegation. The Community Development Block Grant will provide Bangor with funds to complete development projects that target low- to moderate-income residents.

“It is crucial to provide a strong foundation for community growth and development, and this generous funding will support programs that serve this goal,” said U.S. Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins in a joint press release.

“This grant will give a needed boost to economic development, job creation, housing improvement, and homeless assistance efforts in Bangor,” said Rep. John Baldacci in a separate release.

Bangor will use the money for housing rehabilitation projects, public services, public facilities and economic development programs that seek to assist low- to moderate-income residents.

The program will also be funded with in an additional $376,563 in anticipated program income.
