Inmate apprehended, sister charged after escape from jail

FARMINGTON – A 25-year-old man was apprehended early Monday morning after escaping from the Franklin County Jail by climbing over a fence with razor wire and slipping into a waiting getaway car.

Daniel Jackson of Jay was arrested at about 12:30 a.m. in woods in Farmington Falls, officials said.

Jackson’s sister, 35-year-old Angela Taylor of Jay, was charged earlier Sunday with aiding and abetting an escape.

The escape occurred at 1:30 p.m. Sunday when Jackson climbed over the fence surrounding the jail’s recreation yard while a corrections officer grabbed his legs in an unsuccessful attempt to keep him from fleeing, jail officials said.

The getaway car was found abandoned a short time later, and Taylor admitted to helping her brother in the escape, said Franklin County Sheriff Dennis Pike.

Jackson was in jail on a charge of terrorizing for allegedly firing a gun in an apartment in Wilton last month.

He was also wanted on a fugitive warrant for allegedly escaping from a jail in New York, said Wilton Police Chief Wayne Gallant.
