FREDERICTON, New Brunswick – Fort Fairfield’s Kirk Thibeau took the checkered flag in the inaugural New Brunswick International Speedway Pro Stock 250 before a capacity NBIS crowd Saturday night.

Thibeau made his first move to the front with 25 laps to go and went side by side with Shawn Tucker of Fredericton the rest of the way through two restarts. On lap 248, a caution flag came out and set the stage for a two-lap shootout. Thibeau got the edge off turn two following the restart and held the lead the rest of the way for the $5,625 prize and trophy. Tucker took home $8,000 along with the runner-up trophy. Wayne Smith of Timberlea, Nova Scotia, was third. The only other Maine racer in the 26-car field was Caribou’s Dale St. Peter, who finished 16th.
