ROCKLAND – A Knox County Superior Court jury on Thursday found Charles Ugro, 42, guilty on 23 of 25 counts relating to the sexual assault of a child under the age of 14.
The charges included multiple counts of Class A sexual assault of a child under 14; Class C unlawful sexual contact with a child under the age of 14; and aggravated furnishing of scheduled drugs to a minor.
Assistant District Attorney Carrie Carney said the jury took about three hours to reach its verdicts. Not guilty verdicts were delivered on two counts of furnishing drugs to a minor.
The offenses occurred between September 2004 and May 2005, she said.
Ugro remained free on bail Thursday. Carney asked that he be held without bail, but Justice Joyce Wheeler upheld the bail conditions under which Ugro had been released.
Ugro was living in Rockland at the time of the offenses, but now lives in the Old Town area, Carney said.
The prosecutor has not yet decided what sentence she will recommend.
