Man charged after comments, gestures to officer

Police arrested a Bangor man early Sunday morning and charged him with disorderly conduct after he shouted obscenities and made gestures toward a Bangor police officer, according to the police report.

At 1:50 a.m., Bangor police Officers Steve Pelletier and Kerry Libby noticed Daniel Hiscoe, 32, causing a disturbance on Broad Street, the report said.

Pelletier said Hiscoe seemed highly intoxicated – he had poor balance and staggered along the roadway – and refused to leave a group of people alone. The officer said it appeared Hiscoe wanted to pick a fight with the group.

Pelletier said he advised Hiscoe to leave, only to have Hiscoe scream a number of off-color remarks and allegedly question Pelletier’s sexuality. Hiscoe then approached Pelletier, almost coming into contact with the officer, the report said. Hiscoe reportedly proceeded to thrust his pelvis toward Pelletier and asked if the officer liked it.

Police arrested an uncooperative Hiscoe and took him to Penobscot County Jail, the report stated.

A Cape Elizabeth woman attending the American Folk Festival in Bangor over the weekend told police that several items were stolen from her parked car.

While she went to take in the sights along the waterfront Saturday afternoon, she parked her car on Second Street near the YWCA. When she returned later, she found an estimated $355 worth of belongings missing.

She reported to police around midnight Saturday that among the items missing was a notebook listing private phone numbers, addresses, notes and “other personal effects.” The white notebook caused the most concern to the 46-year-old woman, Officer Kerry Libby noted.

In addition, her cell phone, L.L. Bean backpack and tote bag, $200 Olympus camera and allergy medication were gone.
