What the DOT forgot

It’s been about two weeks since the signs on I-95 foretold of construction starting on Sept. 5 on bridges in the Bangor area.

Much to many drivers’ surprise, on Monday morning, Aug. 28, traffic came to a near screeching halt in both directions by 7:30 a.m. because of construction that I guess had to begin early. Thank you, DOT, for the advance warning about construction delays that started a week before the warning time stated.

Since I had seen traffic northbound down to one lane at 7:30 a.m. Monday, myself and many other drivers heeded the construction warning and one lane of traffic ahead during my evening commute northbound.

After crawling along for nearly a mile in the right lane as we were supposed to, we got to the Stillwater Avenue bridge with two lanes still open to traffic. Come to find out, there was no longer any construction going on.

I guess somebody from the DOT forgot to get the signs turned around or covered up until it was time again. This should not happen, especially around the time when there is the most traffic on the interstate.
