Back in July 2005, perhaps influenced by the media’s frenzied reporting of the “vengeful” outing of Valerie Plame, your editorial page and op-ed contributors took great delight in vilifying Bush administration officials for their shameful treatment of Joe Wilson and his wife.
Now that it has been revealed that the true culprits in the case were Richard Armitage (former deputy secretary of state), Colin Powell (former secretary of state), Patrick Fitzgerald (special prosecutor in the “leak” case), the Ashcroft Justice Department, Wilson, and, especially, the media, shouldn’t you and “pile-oners” issue a public apology to the likes of Vice President Dick Cheney, Karl Rove and Scooter Libby?
Your collective silence speaks volumes.
