Undefeated Calais rolls past ‘Guagus

CALAIS – Nathan O’Neil scored three goals to lead the undefeated Calais Blue Devils to an 8-1 high school boys soccer victory over the Jonesport-Beals Royals Thursday.

John Deacon added a goal and two assists while Jeremy Carr had one goal and one assist. Corey Johnston, Dylan Ramsdell and Steven Rogers added a goal apiece for Calais.

Sid Look scored an unassisted goal for Jonesport-Beals.

Scott Geel made three saves on four shots for 5-0 Calais. Jeremy Bassett made six saves on 16 shots for 0-2-1 Jonesport-Beals.

WA 9, Narraguagus 2

At East Machias, Julian Washington netted three goals as Washington Academy topped Narraguagus of Harrington.

Min Kim scored two goals while Milos Gautier, Nick Hickson, Yoon Tok Hon and Young Gi each added a goal. Josiah Jackson stopped seven of nine shots for the 2-1 Raiders.

Gustavo Ortiz had a goal for Narraguagus while Brandon Meserve scored on a penalty kick. Kyle Tenan made 12 saves on 33 shots for the 0-2-2 Knights.

Hampden 6, Lawrence 2

At Fairfield, Aaron Gilio had two goals and an assist to lead Hampden to the win.

Nick Beal, Nate Brown, Harvey Shue and John D’Halti added a goal apiece for the 3-1 Broncos. Cam Cox had four saves on seven shots.

Evan Bois and Sam Miller had a goal each for the 1-3 Bulldogs. Kory McPhail saved 10 of 18 shots.

JV: Hampden 1-0

Highview 5, Islesboro 2

At Islesboro, Josh Mountain scored two goals, one off a corner kick, to lift Highview Christian of Charleston to victory.

Jonas Kramer, Jonathan Reed and Son Thanh Mac each added a goal for the 1-0 winners and Tuibaut Pogorcelski notched an assist. Wesley Jones made three saves and Jonas Kramer had eight saves on 12 shots.

Jon Cunningham notched a goal and an assist for 0-4 Islesboro and Nate Graham added a goal. Peter Anderson made four saves on 10 shots and Mike Pisciotta had eight saves on 14 shots.

DI-Stonington 4, Bangor Chr. 1

At Deer Isle, Collin Ciomei netted two goals to propel Deer Isle-Stonington to victory over Bangor Christian.

Parker McDonald and Max Becton each scored a goal while Bryant Ciomei had an assist. Rob Brown stopped 10 of 11 shots for the 2-2 Mariners.

Brandon Wilcox scored for Bangor Christian with the assist coming from Phil Dougherty. Sam McLeod made 16 saves on 20 shots for the 1-3 Patriots.

Ellsworth 3, Foxcroft 0

At Ellsworth, Chris Leighton scored a goal and added an assist to lead Ellsworth to victory.

Dem Katsiaficas and James Doe each netted a goal while Luke Haskell tallied an assist for Ellsworth. Greg Berry and Patrick Kelley combined to make three saves on six shots for the 4-1 Eagles.

Evan Bridges stopped 20 of 24 shots for 1-4 Foxcroft Academy.

MDI 2, Hermon 0

At Hermon, Naniel Hilliard and Andrew Beilleux each scored a second half goal to lead Mount Desert Island by Hermon.

Ben Young recorded an assist on the goal by Hilliard. John Joseph made three saves on seven shots for the 3-2 Trojans.

Josh Blaine stopped 10 of 16 shots for the 0-5 Hawks.

Field hockey

Belfast 4, Leavitt 2

At Belfast, Jill Ross had two goals and an assist as the Lions earned the victory.

Brianna Curry had a goal plus an assist and Brooke Reed a goal for the 5-0 Lions. Britt Cummings had an assist. Liz Anderson had five saves on seven shots.

Courtney Erskine had a goal plus an assist and Lauren Doiron a goal for 4-1 Leavitt of Turner. Rachel Beeckel added an assist. Kristen Capon saved 12 of 16 shots.

JV: 1-1

Camden Hills 3, Oak Hill 0

At Sabattus, Laura Schelble scored two goals in the first half to lead Camden Hills to victory.

Kate Fetterman netted a goal and grabbed an assist. Dale Winsper stopped all 13 shots for the 3-2 Windjammers.

Frankie Curtis made 10 saves on 18 shots for the 1-4 Raiders.

JV: Oak Hill 2-1

Girls soccer

Bangor Chr. 4, DI-Stonington 0

At Bangor, Christin Pelletier scored three goals as Bangor Christian shut out Deer Isle-Stonington.

Katherine Bragg scored a goal while Adrienne Riccie grabbed the assist. Mariah Bach and Morgan Staples faced no shots for the 5-0 Patriots.

Anika Powers made 25 saves on 49 shots for the 0-4 Mariners.

Lawrence 3, Hampden 2

At Hampden, Meagan Forsythe had a goal and two assists to lead Lawrence of Fairfield to victory.

Courtney Langley and Katie Hopkins each added a goal for the Bulldogs.

Mikki Libbey paced Hampden Academy with a goal and an assist, while Anna Kalliola scored a goal and Sophie Kelmenson chipped in with an assist.

Amanda Andrews made 11 saves on 21 shots for 4-1 Lawrence. Michelle Wells made three saves on 14 shots for 2-3 Hampden.

JV: Lawrence 2-1

GSA 5, Sumner 1

At East Sullivan, Laura Overton tallied two goals to lead George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill by Sumner.

Winslow Brokaw, Maddi Park and Alida Peake each added a goal. Kayla Eaton and Sarah Brown made five saves on 10 shots for the 5-0-1 Eagles.

Lona Sargent scored for Sumner off an assist from Kylie Bragdon. Morgan Traxler made 20 saves on 34 shots for the 1-3-0 Tigers.

Brewer 0, Nokomis 0

At Brewer, goalies Carolynn Tuck of Brewer and Laurie Lyford of Nokomis each pitched a shutout through regulation play and two overtimes.

Tuck made seven saves on 12 shots for the 0-4-1 Witches. Lyford made 17 saves on 30 shots for the 1-2-2 Warriors of Newport.

Each team had a couple of good opportunities, perhaps the best coming when a Nokomis shot got past Tuck and was rolling toward the goal line until Brewer defender Kayla Dunn was able to get to the ball and deflect in back toward the Brewer goalie for the save.
