Phippen Jr. captures Sportsman title at 95

HERMON – John Phippen Jr. of Town Hill wrapped up the Sportsman division points championship at Speedway 95 with a third-place finish in Sunday’s feature race. Matt Eaton of Little Deer Isle took first place and Ryan Deane of Winterport finished second in the race.

Dale Swoboda of Hermon and Duane Seekins of Stockton Springs took fourth and fifth place, respectively.

Wiscasset Raceway

At Wiscasset, Bryan Robbins continued his recent dominance of the Late Model Sportsman division with another victory in a 30-lap feature. The Liberty driver started from the pole position and drove away several challenges to finish the same way he started: In first place.

Finishing second was Nick Reno of West Bath. Peter Oakes of Boothbay was third, Allen Moeller Sr., of Dresden was fourth, and Mike Orr of Wiscasset grabbed fifth.

At Winterport, Ben Pinkham of Winterport won the Challenge Super Pro event at Winterport Dragway Sunday. Randy Therrien of Winterport placed second followed by Oxford drivers Rick Romano and John Harper.

Oxford Plains Speedway

At Oxford, Shawn Martin of Turner cruised to victory in the Late Model division Saturday in the 11th annual New England Dodge Dealers Little Guy 100’s at Oxford Plains Speedway.

Martin finished nearly a half lap ahead of American-Canadian Tour competitor Joey Polewarczyk of Hudson, N.H. Travis Adams of Canton, Dale Verrill of South Paris, and T.J. Watson of Harpswell rounded out the top five, respectively.
