PORTLAND – About 400 Maine KeyBank employees went out into their communities last week to provide a wide range of services to 50 different organizations during the company’s 17th annual Neighbors Make the Difference Day.

Volunteers in Maine removed graffiti in Bangor, ran a food drive in Freeport, cleaned up at Camp Ketcha in Scarborough, helped clear a lot for Habitat for Humanity in Portland and helped build a Habitat for Humanity home in Fort Fairfield. They also washed windows, delivered food to the elderly and cleaned parks that afternoon.

Nationwide, more than 7,000 KeyBank employees participated in the event, donating more than 28,000 hours of community service in neighborhoods from Maine to Alaska. Neighbors Make the Difference Day began in 1990 as a beach clean-up project among KeyCorp employees in Alaska. KeyBank began the program nationally in 1993 as a means to further enhance the quality of life in communities where employees live and work.
