BANGOR – Thunderstorms in Massachusetts prompted five flights to divert to Bangor International Airport Friday night, including one apparently carrying a disgruntled passenger.
The storms affected domestic and international flights into Boston and Worcester, Mass., and included two British Airways flights, an Icelandair flight, one from American Airlines and another from Swissair, according to a BIA passenger services official.
One passenger said her flight from Orlando, Fla., had been scheduled to stop off in Allentown, Pa., and then Worcester, but bypassed Worcester in favor of Portsmouth, N.H., which had been a scheduled landing after the flight was to land in Bangor.
Bangor police reported removing one man from a domestic flight after the man became unruly over being diverted. The man was not arrested, according to police.
The diversions were temporary and by late evening, the flights had resumed travel to their original destinations.
