Collier, Charette lift Warriors to victory

ASHLAND – Kaylea Collier scored two goals to push Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook to a 3-2 high school girls soccer victory over Ashland Wednesday.

Brittany Charette had a goal and an assist for the 10-1 Warriors. Emily Cummings turned away eight of 11 shots.

Jackie Raymond scored both goals for the 3-7-1 Hornets. Autumn Cobb and Crystal Cook provided assists. Taylor Baker stopped 12 of 17 shots.

Winslow 3, Camden Hills 1

At Rockport, Katie McLaughlin, Meryl McLellan, and Liz Cheesman scored goals to push Winslow past Camden Hills.

Brynne Davis turned away two of three shots for the 9-0 Black Raiders.

Sarah Albertson scored a first-half goal for the 3-6 Windjammers. Kerry Gross made six saves on nine shots.

Hermon 2, MDI 1

At Hermon, Ashley Andrews scored an unassisted goal in the first half to lift Hermon to its first win of the season.

Brittany Kelly provided some insurance for the 1-8-1 Hawks, with Danielle Ross getting the assist. Megan Herbert had 15 saves on 16 shots.

Danielle Hutchins scored for 1-7 Mount Desert Island. Bridgette Pratt stopped nine out of 12 shots.

JV: Hermon 2-0

Boys soccer

Presque Isle 3, John Bapst 1

At Bangor on Tuesday, Logan York scored an unassisted first-half goal to help push Presque Isle past John Bapst on Tuesday.

Warren Zubrick and Chad Carlin also scored for the 6-1 Wildcats. Russ Mortland had an assist as Adam Kingsbury stopped three of six shots.

Ian Bamford scored a second-half goal off of a Nick Hubbard assist for the 6-2 Crusaders. Chris Smith made eight saves on 11 shots.

Ashland 3, So. Aroostook 0

At Ashland, Tyler Cote netted two goals to lead Ashland to victory.

Carl Nemer scored a goal and assisted another for the 8-1-2 Hornets. Isaac Ward and Jesse Martin added assists. Kevin Baker stopped 13 of 19 shots.

Colby Clark made 15 saves on 25 shots for 6-5 Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook.

Calais 3, Washington Academy 1

At East Machias, Corey Johnson scored two unassisted goals to lead the Calais Blue Devils by the host Raiders.

Jeremy Carr had a goal for the Raiders and Scott Geel made 24 saves on 38 shots.

Julian Washington scored an unassisted goal for the Blue Devils. Josiah Jackson made 27 saves on 31 shots.

Woodland 3, Narraguagus 1

At Harrington, Mark McLellan, Chad James and Cody Sappier tallied a goal apiece to lead Woodland past Narraguagus.

Todd Townsend had six saves on eight shots for the 6-2 Dragons.

Nate Best scored for the 1-6-1 Knights and Brandon Meserve stopped eight out of 11 shots.

MCI 6, Belfast 2

At Pittsfield, Dustin Varney had a hat trick with three goals to lead Maine Central Institute to the win.

Brandon Glencross and Owen Campbell both had a goal and an assist for the 4-4-1 Huskies. Mark Neace added a goal and Alex Sidelinger provided an assist. Benson Bonsu turned away four of eight shots.

Jack Davis and Yates Murphy scored for 0-8 Belfast. Russell Varney stopped eight of 24 shots.

Searsport 4, Sumner 1

At Searsport, Josh Nickerson had two goals and an assist to lead the Vikings to their first victory of the season.

Kyle Ritchie and Chris Gillo also scored for 1-8 Searsport, while Travis Anderson had two assists.

Joseph Simmons scored for 1-9 Sumner of East Sullivan.

Daniel Peach made five saves on eight shots for Searsport. Ralph Tayamora made six saves on 16 shots for Sumner.
