Corey, 9, is a very loving and warm boy. He is a real jokester with a good sense of humor. He enjoys learning and participating in sports. He demonstrates a lot of confidence and a willingness to try.
Cory plays soccer, basketball and baseball. He likes to play dodgeball with his friends. His favorite food is pizza with pepperoni, bacon and lots of cheese.
Corey receives special education services in all areas. He says his favorite subject in school is math. He participates in counseling weekly to assist him with issues of loss.
Corey responds well to structured and extremely consistent parenting. Setting firm boundaries helps him tremendously. Corey is a delightful boy who manages his behavior well when he knows that his caregivers will remain consistent with consequences.
A family with one or two parents who will provide Corey with structure, stability, predictability and consistency is being sought as an adoptive resource for him.
Prospective adoptive parents for Corey will need to be able to be empathetic and nurturing, while maintaining strict and unwavering limits. Successful candidates also need to be willing to receive outside supports to maximize Corey’s transition into their home.
Corey is one of the 155 children in the Maine Department of Health and Human Service’s care who are seeking adoptive families.
Based in Gardiner, A Family for ME is a nonprofit program that works in collaboration with Maine DHHS to find foster and adoptive families for Maine children in care.
