Theater group readies original one-acts

BREWER – Ten Bucks Theatre Company Inc. invites the public to experience “An Evening of One Acts,” written by members of Ten Bucks Theatre – a first in the theater’s six-year history.

“Stop/Sign” was written by Putnam Smith. The mundane meets the metaphysical in this cockeyed comedy about birth, death and directing the flow of traffic. Who knew that roadside flaggers could in fact be controlling our destinies? Flirting, nose-picking, talking backwards, freaking out at the prospect of being a daddy – these are but a few of the ingredients in this recipe for comedic chaos.

Participants in “Stop/Sign” include Rebecca Bailey as the wife, Chris Franklin as the husband, Tamela Glenn as the physician, John Greenman as the minister, Allen Adams as flagger 1 and Elaine Daugherty as flagger 2.

“The Audition,” written by Tamela Glenn, is a playful look at actors and acting, the way Art imitates Life, and the fact that many times: Reality is the girl that no one wants to date.

Players in “The Audition” include Rebecca Bailey as Josie, Chris Franklin as Mitch, John Greenman as Greg, Starsha Schiller as Val and Simon Ferland as Derek.

The plays will be performed at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, Oct. 13-14 and 20-21, and at 2 p.m. Sundays, Oct. 15 and 22, at the Brewer Middle School Auditorium

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students. College students, please show a school ID
