FORT KENT – Liz Clavette scored two first half goals to help lead the University of Maine-Fort Kent to a 3-0 women’s college soccer win over the University of Maine-Presque Isle on Wednesday.
Maria Williams set up both of Clavette’s goals and added a goal of her own assisted by Clavette. Heather Hartman made 14 saves on 16 shots for the 12-0 Bengals.
Billie Martin made 15 saves on 22 shots for 2-10 UMPI.
Women’s soccer
Husson 10, Thomas 0
At Waterville, Katie Nickerson, Shelby Pickering and Tatyana Wolterbeek scored two goals apiece as Husson cruised by Thomas College.
Elissa Gordon, Danielle Lorusso, Michelle Varney and Kelly Morgan each added a goal for Husson. Leah Drew stopped the only shot she faced for the 9-3-1 Eagles.
Lindsay Thornton and Shannon Proctor combined to make five saves on 24 shots for the 4-8 Terriers.
Colby 7, USM 0
At Waterville, Mary Clare Snediker scored two goals in the first eight minutes of the game to lead Colby by the University of Southern Maine.
Madison Gregor and Kyla Wagman each added two goals while Jenn Reilly had one for Colby. Jamie Enos and Molly Rice combined to make three saves on four shots for the Mules.
Allie Hill made 15 saves on 23 shots for the Huskies of Gorham.
Bates 1, Southern Maine 0
At Gorham, Bates’ Becky MacDonald took a through pass from Julie Brown while just inside the 18-yard area and beat the goalie to score the only goal of the game and beat the University of Southern Maine.
Mia Lidofsky made one save on two shots for the 8-3 Bobcats of Lewiston.
Meghan Ibar had nine saves on 25 shots for the 4-8 Huskies.
UMF Beavers 7, Lyndon State 0
At Farmington, Melissa St. Amand notched two goals and an assist to lead the University of Maine-Farmington to victory.
For the 9-5 Beavers, Heidi Parker and Amber Murphy each had a goal and an assist. Ashley Tetrault, Erin Campbell and Julie Walters each scored one goal. Alix Raymond, Melissa Demerchant and Kerry Kowalczyk combined to make one save on two shots.
Jennifer Weiner made six saves on 14 shots for the 6-7 Hornets.
Field hockey
Bowdoin 2, Bates 1
At Brunswick, Hillary Hoffman scored off a pass from Lindsay McNamara with 5:38 to go before halftime to lift the Polar Bears past the Bobcats.
Lindsey Ferguson scored for 4-4 Bates of Lewiston 10 minutes into the game. McNamara tied it up for 8-1 Bowdoin 10 minutes later.
Bowdoin goalie Kate Leonard stopped all three Bates shots. Sarah Sprague made nine saves on 12 shots for the Bobcats.
Men’s soccer
Albany 2, Maine 1
At Orono, Brian Gordon scored in the 87th minute to lift Albany past Maine.
Kurt Ruhe Lischke scored in the first half for the 6-6-2 Great Danes. Steward Ceus had three saves on eight shots.
Cooper Friend scored on a penalty kick for the 0-14 Black Bears, who have now lost 19 straight dating back to last season.
Ben Piotrowski stopped five of 17 shots.
Southern Maine 2, UNE 0
At Biddeford, Sinisa Bajic scored two goals, both off assists from Eddie Weddington, to lead Southern Maine past the University of New England.
Chris Willard had three saves on six shots for the 6-8 Huskies.
Derek Poulin stopped eight of 16 shots for the 2-8-2 Nor’Easters.
Husson 4, Thomas 0
At Waterville, Hiroki Ueda and Oscar Ody converted penalty kicks as Husson improved to 10-3-1 overall, 6-2 in the North Atlantic Conference. Thomas fell to 0-11-1 and 0-6-1, respectively.
Nathan Carter and Josh Bartlett had the other Husson goals and Jeff Truchon had an assist.
Russel Beckwith made 11 saves on 24 shots for Thomas, which generated five shots but none of them required a save.
